Remodeling: Staying Organized Part 2

In our previous article, we talked about how to inspire your vision while preparing for a home remodeling project.  We continue this discussion here with even more ideas.  If you haven’t read it yet, go back and read Remodeling: Staying Organized Part 1.

Part 2

Create a vision board. This is the process of taking the multitude of images you’ve saved and boiling it all down into one cohesive board to help you see the specifics of what you want and how they work together.

Find a large bulletin board and begin narrowing down your favorites and start tacking or taping them on. Be sure to include fabric and paint swatches, floor samples, pictures of lighting and various finishes you like the most. At Conestoga Tile, we offer a wealth of samples to choose from. A typical session with one of our design consultants ends with you having a conceptual design and samples (along with tile pricing and a smile of course).

When you see everything together you’ll be able to see more clearly what works and what doesn’t.

Also include inspiring images that give a sense how you want your space to feel on a more intuitive level. Do you want your home to feel warm and inviting or calm and sophisticated? Think about what experiences are meaningful to you and include those on the board as well. This will help you stay connected to your unique personal style and expression as you wade through the vast sea of choices to come.

Next up, we’ll go further into the practicalities of organizing your life during the remodeling process. Let us know in the comments if you’ve found a vision board helpful in your life, or if you plan on trying one!
