Mold is a nasty thing to discover in any kitchen or bath area. Next to spiders, it’s guaranteed to make you shriek louder than you than a gas bill. Preventing mold growth on ceramic tile is a better option than trying to get rid of it after it has formed. To that end, the following are some tips you can use to prevent mold from taking over your tile:
- Follow ANSI & TCNA installation standards. These help prevent moisture intrusion and keep the grout from becoming discolored as a result.
- Keep humidity levels down. They should never be more than 60 percent. Thus, it’s important to have a quality fan you can rely on to remove that moisture from the air.
- Take care of leaks/spills quickly. Don’t allow water to pool and sit on tile surfaces. Be sure to mop up spills as soon as they occur.
- Seal grout. This is a simple but critical step that keeps moisture out.
