If you’re looking for a floor material that will provide both form and function, you can’t go wrong with marble tile. However, in order to achieve the best results possible, you should be sure to use the following tips when installing marble tile in your home:
- Preparing the floor – Make sure that the floor is strong enough to hold the marble tile’s weight. Take a moment to make sure that the surface is clean, dry and even. If the floor is uneven, then the tiles may loosen.
- Lay out the tiles – Be sure to lay out all the tiles in the design that you want before you actually begin to apply the adhesive. Begin by placing the tiles in the center of the room and work your way out. Some of the tiles may need to be cut in order to fit.
- Apply the adhesive – Use tile spacers to make sure the spacing is even when placing the tiles on the adhesive. Let dry for at least 24 hours.
- After installation – Once it’s dried, use cement or grout to fill in the gaps between the tiles using a squeegee.
