How Flooring Trends are Changing in 2014

At Conestoga Tile, we are seeing some market changes for 2014 flooring trends. These changes may affect product availability and flooring prices for homeowners, contractors, designers and architects who are planning a remodel for 2014, which is why we want to have you prepared.

Over the past year, hardwood suppliers have raised prices nearly 20 percent on some solid wood and engineered hardwood flooring products. These price increases are expected to send homeowners looking for alternate types of flooring. Wood flooring is expensive to purchase and install, and cost conscious buyers may choose to go with a lower priced ceramic tile that looks like wood.

Other flooring trends include a shift to lighter colors and larger size planks and tiles. 2014 flooring trends show that homeowners are opting for lighter floors in whitewashed stains and soft shades of gray, rather than traditional dark stains like walnut and mahogany. They are also opting for wide planks and large tiles. Since size specifications are limited on wood floors, wood look ceramic tiles are becoming a good alternative.

Conestoga Tile carries a large selection of ceramic and porcelain wood look tiles. For more information, contact us at 888-415-5689, or visit one of our showrooms in Baltimore, MD; Sterling, VA; and Harrisburg, PA.
